Most Premier League teams have only three games to go. For some, that means the welcome relief of summer and a nice holiday to recharge the batteries. For others, time is running out too quickly. QPR and Burnley will, in all likelihood, have their relegations confirmed very shortly but there are still five other clubs fighting to stay in the league. Below we’ve selected our best accas for the weekend’s football to try to make some profit in time for our own summer holidays.
Easy Winner – 11/10 (Sky Bet)
- Manchester City to beat QPR (2/9) – City need a good end to the season. The manager has to convince everyone he’s the man for the job next term and many of players are playing for their own futures. For QPR, it is too late and they will slip further away from safety with yet another away defeat.
- Aston Villa v West Ham: over 1.5 goals (2/7) – Villa have improved in front of goal thanks, it seems, to Tim Sherwood’s enthusiasm. They play West Ham in a game that can confirm their survival. West Ham are still going, just about, and can score against a generous home defence making over 1.5 goals look a banker of a bet.
- Leicester v Southampton: over 1.5 goals (1/3) – Leicester have come out of nowhere to put their survival in their own hands. They play Southampton who have been very patchy recently. They’ll want to push on for a European spot but won’t find it easy in the East Midlands in a game in which we fancy both sides will find the net.
Medium Risk – 14/1 (BetVictor)
- Everton to beat Sunderland (4/5) – If Sunderland are to make it two miraculous survivals in a row, they’ll need to secure at least five points. They may have to come after this weekend as Everton are playing better than at any point this year and should win at Goodison.
- Stoke to beat Tottenham (19/10) – Tottenham seem to be doing all they can to make sure they don’t qualify for the Europa League – they’ve got two wins, two draws and two losses from their last six. Stoke are generally strong at home, even against teams above them and can upset a ‘bigger’ team once again.
- West Brom to beat Newcastle (15/8) – There’s nothing to suggest that Newcastle are going to arrest their abysmal form. West Brom have been good just recently and can follow up their win at Old Trafford with another at St. James’ Park.
Long Shot – 60/1 (Bet365)
- Chelsea to win to nil against Liverpool (12/5) – Chelsea have had the pressure lifted now that they’ve won the league. However, they’ll still want to beat Liverpool, something they have been very good at in the past couple of years. Liverpool haven’t quite given up on the top four yet but may have to come Sunday evening.
- Burnley to beat Hull (3/1) – Hull will have a huge amount of pressure when they take on a Burnley who are all-but doomed. Sean Dyche will no doubt be able to get his players going as has done all season. It is Steve Bruce who’s got the toughest job in this one as his players could well buckle under the expectation.
- Crystal Palace to beat Manchester United (7/2) – United’s season is not finishing well. They’ve lost three on the bounce and will not find it easy at Selhurst Park. Palace have already beaten three of the top six at home this season so they must be fancied to have a real chance in Saturday’s late game.
