This is perhaps the most exciting time of the season both domestically and in Europe. In the Champions League there are a number of top quality teams left in the competition and we get treated to eight more enthralling encounters as the quarter finalists will be decided over the next couple of weeks. There are four matches this midweek and we’ve given you three betting opportunities below to hopefully make some profit from the bookies.
Easy Winner – evens (BetVictor)
- Over 1.5 goals in Wolfsburg v Gent (2/9) – There were five goals in the first leg of this one and with Gent having to score more than once there should be much more goalmouth action to enjoy.
- Under 3.5 goals in Zenit v Benfica (1/4) – Benfica are going to have to be brilliant to get through against Zenit. We should be expecting another tight match which may go beyond the 90 minutes.
- Over 1.5 goals in Chelsea v PSG (4/11) – Could this match be set up any better? PSG hold a slender advantage but both sides will feel they’ve got a great chance of progressing and neither are expected to hold back.
Medium Risk – 11/1 (Sky Bet)
- Real Madrid to beat Roma with one goal handicap (11/10) – Real Madrid outclassed Roma in Italy and with the club very much focussed on European success they should comfortably win back at the Bernabeu.
- Zenit to beat Benfica to nil (9/4) – A combination of the long distance travelled, the intensity of the home support and the high quality of this Zenit team mean it will be very tough for Benfica to score on Wednesday. Benfica may settle for a 1-0 loss and a shot at extra time and possibly penalties.
- Both teams to score in Chelsea v PSG (4/5) – There is nothing to be gained from Chelsea taking a defensive approach to their match against PSG. They have to score but stopping Zlatan Ibrahimović and company from finding the net at the other end is going to be incredibly difficult.
Long Shot – 219/1 (Bet365)
- Real Madrid to beat Roma 2-0 (7/1) – Real Madrid should be even more comfortable at home than they were in Rome but if they get a lead the tie will be over very early so don’t expect Ronaldo and friends to put too much effort in when the tie looks already in the bag.
- Chelsea to beat PSG 2-1 (9/1) – Correct score betting is not easy but 2-1 is the only score which can extend this match to extra time and it would be no surprise to see that happen for the second year running. Chelsea have the talent to win the match even if the tie is going to be tough to progress from.
- Over 3.5 goals in Wolfsburg v Gent (7/4) – A game like the first leg between these two would be something very special. Gent have thoroughly enjoyed their Champions League experience and if they are to go down they will do so swinging so be sure to tune in for this one.
