The second lot of Champions League knock-out ties take our attention this week as we look to find some bets to put together to make lovely, big winning accas. We’ve scoured the stats and the form to pick an easy winner, a slightly risky treble and our big risk-taking, money-making acca. So grab a cuppa and have a read through our picks.
Easy Winner – Evens (BetVictor)
- Arsenal to beat Monaco (1/2) – Arsenal are unbeaten in Europe this season and they come up against a Monaco side who they should really be beating. Monaco struggle to score enough goals and with the attacking players at Arsene Wenger’s disposal, a routine home win is on the cards.
- Manchester City v Barcelona over 1.5 goals(2/9) – There are too many wonderful players in both teams for this to be a low-scoring affair. Messi, Aguero, Suarez, any of them can create and score goals out of nothing so add this to the easy winner selections.
- Juventus +1 against Dortmund – Dortmund have a real battle on their hands to move up the Bundesliga table. Juventus, on the other hand, are sitting pretty at the top of Serie A. They can concentrate fully on European glory and will come in with a handicap of +1 applied.
Medium Risk – 6/1 (Coral)
- Man City v Barcelona both teams to score (8/5) – Man City need to get a positive result in the first leg in order to have a chance of coming through the second leg at the Nou Camp. They will go all out to score, leaving space for Barcelona to exploit. Both teams should certainly score at some point in this one.
- Bayer Leverkusen v Atletico Madrid over 2.5 goals (11/8) – Atletico Madrid score over 2.5 goals a game on average and in over half of all Leverkusen games this year both teams have scored. This one looks like it will have goals as Atleti know the importance of scoring away goals in Europe. Include the overs in the acca and we can profit handsomely from the goals.
- Arsenal clean sheet v Moncao (19/20) – Moncao do not score many goals and they will find it difficult to break down a rejuvenated Arsenal defence. Their aim will surely be to keep the score down and take advantage of the home leg. So go for an Arsenal shut-out.
Long Shot – 130/1 (Bet365)
- Arsenal to beat Monaco 2-0 (5/1) – A routine win against a team with a good defence but poor attack equals a 2-0 win to Arsenal. 5/1 is a good price to include in our long shot treble.
- Lionel Messi to score against Manchester City (21/20) – Messi is on a great run of goalscoring form both domestically and in Europe. Any team would find it difficult to stop Messi, let alone a City team who shipped four goals in two legs against Barcelona last season. Back Messi to once again come up with the goods on a big European night.
- Leverkusen to win from behind (9/1) – Leverkusen are generally better in the second half than the first. Atletico have more than enough about them to take the lead but the home fans could encourage Leverkusen to come back and record a vital first-leg win.
