It’s still very early in the Premier League season but we’ve already got very important games coming up. The teams towards the top of the table must show they can stop the Manchester City juggernaut while several teams towards the bottom need to start picking up points to keep themselves away from the clutches of the relegation battle. We’ve gone through all this weekend’s matches, important or otherwise, to create an easy winner, a medium risk and a long shot option for acca fans.
Easy Winner – Evens (BetVictor)
- Man City -1 goal handicap against Burnley (1/4) – Man City have been blowing teams away in the Premier League this season and there is no reason to suggest that will change against Burnley.
- Man United to beat Huddersfield (1/3) – After a bright start to their first Premier League campaign, Huddersfield are finding points hard to come by. The same cannot be said of Man United who are the clear favourites to pick up another win at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.
- Over 1.5 goals in Tottenham v Liverpool (2/9) – Coming off the back of very good results in the Champions League, both Tottenham and Liverpool will fancy their chances of a win at Wembley Stadium. Expect plenty of chances and goals in what could be the match of the weekend.
Medium Risk – 10/1 (Ladbrokes)
- Both teams to score in Chelsea v Watford (evens) – The defeat to Crystal Palace came as a shock to most Chelsea fans. However, they know that their team has fallen short of the levels they set at the back end of last season. In contrast, Watford are playing as well as ever and have had their best ever start to a Premier League season. The Hornets should make a game of it at Stamford Bridge.
- Swansea to beat Leicester (7/4) – Craig Shakespeare paid the price for Leicester’s subpar start to the season but his sacking may do more harm than good. He was popular with the Leicester players who may find it hard to raise their game for the trip to Swansea.
- Under 2.5 goals in Everton v Arsenal (evens) – Everton are suffering from a lack of cohesion while Arsenal have scored just one goal on their travels this season. Don’t expect this one to be a classic.
Long Shot – 200/1 (Betfair)
- Watford to beat Chelsea (17/2) – Watford showed they’ve got great battling qualities when they came from behind against Arsenal and that fight, combined with their organisation and quality, could see them inflict another damaging defeat on Chelsea.
- Bournemouth to beat Stoke to nil (5/1) – Bournemouth defended very well against Tottenham last weekend and could count themselves unlucky not to hold out for a point. A similar defensive performance against Stoke could see them leave with all three should their strikers find their feet in front of goal.
- Tottenham and Liverpool to draw (5/2) – Tottenham and Liverpool will be giving their all to secure the win when they meet at Wembley Stadium but they may both be disappointed. Neither team is easy to beat and a draw looks the most likely outcome.
