We’re just over a week past a dramatic round of internationals, but the Champions League is already back. The third round of fixtures in the group kicks off an exciting part of the early-season campaign, as sides go head to head in crucial double headers. While some of those look a little dull (we’re looking at you, Maribor v Liverpool) there are some brilliant ties that we get to enjoy twice this month.
The likes of Real Madrid against Tottenham and Man City v Napoli pit Europe’s best against the Premier League elite. With so many exciting games, we have a few options for this week’s Champions League accumulators. You can see our Champions League acca tips below, with a couple of tasty huge price bets thrown in there for good measure.
Easy Winner – 7/1 (Betfred)
- Man City to win and BTTS (8/5) – Given how Man City and Napoli play, we expect each side to get at least a goal. City seem to be hitting their stride, and given the quality of their squad they should see off Napoli.
- Bayern Munich -2 handicap (4/5) – Despite Bayern’s problems, there’s still a big gap between them and Celtic. The Bhoys’ 5-0 loss to PSG showed that, and we expect this result in Germany will prove that too.
- Manchester United to win (4/5) – Given that United have won two from two in Europe, and Benfica just lost 5-0 at Basel, 4/5 represents great value on a United win here.
Medium Risk – 34/1 (Coral)
- Man City & BTTS (33/20) – Napoli have scored in seven straight Champions League games, but City’s improvement under Guardiola should see them take the points here.
- Man United -1 Handicap (11/5) – Manchester United should be able to record a comfortable win against Benfica, especially when you consider that the Portuguese side have shipped seven goals to Basel and CSKA so far.
- Chelsea to win and under 2.5 Goals (16/5) – Chelsea are likely to face a tight game against Roma, who drew 0-0 with Atletico earlier in the group. We expect a home win, but to do that the Blues will need to stay solid at the back and look to edge this one.
Long Shot – 165/1 (Betfair)
- Besiktas and BTTS (8/1) – We like the look of BTTS at Monaco, but we think Besiktas can carry on their perfect record. They won at Porto, following up an impressive victory over Napoli at this stage last year. The French champions are struggling in this competition, and we can see them losing.
- Real Madrid and BTTS (13/10) – This could be seen as an audition for Harry Kane and Dele Alli, and we expect one of those two to score here. However, we still expect Real to win the game.
- Man United -2 (7/1) – Having won both of their games in the Champions League by a three goal margin, we expect United to terrorise a Benfica side who shipped five against Basel.
