There may not be any European football to whet our whistles this midweek but there are four cracking looking fixtures in the League Cup quarter finals. Each of the eight teams will be believing that they can go all the way to Wembley come February but they’ve got to take care of business on Tuesday and Wednesday night first before they can start getting carried away. We’ve made up three accumulators from the action to have you covered no matter how much risk you want to take on with your betting.
Easy Winner – 8/11 (Bet365)
- Manchester City to beat Hull (1/5) – City would dearly love to win the League Cup to give them a boost at a vital stage of the season. They should get through comfortably against Hull.
- Over 1.5 goals in Middlesbrough v Everton (3/10) – Boro will struggle to win this game against a very good Everton team but they will carry an attacking threat throughout so expect goals.
- Stoke to beat Sheffield Wednesday (3/4) – Wednesday are a decent Championship team but Stoke have some very exciting players and they are winning plenty of games in the Premier League. Mark Hughes may rotate but they’ll still have enough to win this one.
Medium Risk – 4/1 (Sky Bet)
- Both teams to score in Middlesbrough v Everton (8/11) – This is a game that could be the tie of the round. Boro will look to take the game to Everton but the Toffees can be deadly on the counter attack. Both teams should find the back of the net in an entertaining match.
- Manchester City/Manchester City in half time/full time (8/11) – City should be comfortable winners of this game and have all the attacking threat needed to take the game to Hull and do so early.
- Both teams to score in Southampton v Liverpool (8/11) – If Liverpool are to win this game, we feel they are going to have to score more than once. Southampton are generally good at home and will fancy their chances of winning so both teams to score looks a shoo-in.
Long Shot – 286/1 (BetVictor)
- Everton to beat Middlesbrough 2-1 (10/1) – We’re expecting both teams to find the net in this one and it should also be a fairly close game. That means that 10/1 on Everton to win 2-1 looks overpriced so fill your boots.
- Stoke to beat Sheffield Wednesday and both teams to score (3/1) – Wednesday have nothing to lose here so will be trying to take the game to Stoke. That could result in a goal for the away team but this should be the place where their cup run ends.
- Draw/Liverpool against Southampton (11/2) – Southampton will keep pace with Liverpool even if Jurgen Klopp’s men turn up in red hot form. The game could be decided by a moment of magic or a mistake so take the option of the draw/Liverpool selection in the half time/full time market to bring home our HUGE acca.
