After just five games of the Premier League season we’ve already seen the main protagonists for the title set their stalls out with some eye-catching performances. This week it’s time to see how seriously the big boys will be taking the EFL Cup as they enter the draw. With so many cup fixtures to choose from, we’ve created three trebles to give you betting options for this week’s games.
Easy Winner – 2/1 (Betfair)
- West Ham to beat Bolton (4/11) – West Ham have arrested their slump in recent weeks and are firm favourites against Bolton. It’s not going to be a bumper crowd at the London Stadium but those who turn out should be treated to a home win.
- Everton to beat Sunderland (2/7) – Everton have been poor so far this season and need a big result to win over the Goodison Park faithful. That should come against Sunderland who have not improved results at all since dropping into the Championship.
- Man United to beat Burton Albion to nil (7/10) – Jose Mourinho loves the League Cup. He’ll know Burton will be fired up for their trip to Old Trafford but should enjoy his evening as his players secure a routine win.
Medium Risk – 13/2 (Ladbrokes)
- Over 2.5 goals in Leicester v Liverpool (4/6) – Craig Shakespeare and Jurgen Klopp could well make significant changes to their team for Tuesday’s cup game. However, they’ll still have plenty of attacking fire power on the pitch and so there should be goals at the King Power Stadium.
- Swansea to beat Reading (11/10) – Swansea’s defensive performance against Tottenham on Saturday was top class. When they travel to Reading on Tuesday, the Swans will be able to play their football a little more and that should result in a win for Paul Clement’s team.
- Man City to score 3+ goals against West Brom (23/20) – Man City are looking in ominous form right now. Pep Guardiola’s men have scored 15 unanswered goals in their last three and that run is not set to end at the Hawthorns. City have scored seven goals in their last two meetings with West Brom and they’ll fancy another hatful on Wednesday night.
Long Shot – 99/1 (Bet365)
- Norwich to beat Brentford to nil (9/2) – Brentford have found goals tough to come by in recent matches while Norwich have kept three clean sheets in a row after conceding eight in two. The Bees are really struggling and won’t be overly upset to exit the League Cup so they can concentrate on improving their position in the Championship.
- Leicester to beat Liverpool and both teams to score (6/1) – With Liverpool concentrating on the Premier League and Champions League it wouldn’t be a huge shock to see them lose to Leicester. Jurgen Klopp’s side should score but the Foxes can claim a big home win.
- Tottenham to beat Barnsley and both teams to score (8/5) – Spurs are the firmest of favourites against Barnsley but the away side will be doing all they can to maximise their trip to Wembley. Barnsley can score to make the game interesting but they’ll surely get beaten.
