Attention turns to the latest round of Euro 2016 qualifiers this week as domestic football takes a break and the national sides take centre stage. As always, there are some real mismatches amongst the international fixtures, which gives us a great chance to put together some winning accumulators. So whether you want an easy winner, a medium risk or a high return option, we’ve got it covered right here.
Easy Winner – 87/100 (Bet365)
- Macedonia to beat Luxembourg (4/9) – Luxembourg might have earned a draw against Belarus last time out, but Macedonia have beaten Wales and Serbia in recent times and will make short work of the visitors in this one.
- Montenegro to beat Liechtenstein (1/5) – Liechtenstein are really one of the poorest sides in Europe and with Montenegro having drawn in Poland and won in Ukraine during their World Cup qualifying campaign, not to mention their home draw against England, we think they will win this one with plenty of room to spare.
- Italy to beat Azerbaijan (1/12) – Though Italy are inclined to shoot themselves in the feet from time to time (such as a 2-2 home draw against Armenia in their final World Cup qualifying match) we feel that Antonio Conte’s men will have far too much for the Azerbaijan team who haven’t won away since visiting lowly Liechtenstein in 2009.
Medium Risk – 12/1 (Coral)
- Sweden v Russia: Both teams to score (21/20) – The two strongest sides from Group G go head to head here and though Fabio Capello has a reputation for caution on the road we fancy he will send his Russia side out to get the three points as they aim to top the group. With both sides having plenty in the way of attacking talent, both to score looks a very solid bet for this one.
- Rooney to score two or more against San Marino (7/4) – Rooney is gradually closing in on the all-time England goalscoring record and he’ll relish the opportunity to get on the scoresheet against minnows San Marino. With a big win expected, Rooney looks well-placed for a brace at least.
- Switzerland to beat Slovenia (13/10) – Slovenia lost their opening qualifying match to Estonia and the well-drilled Swiss should have more than enough to get the three points from this one as Xherdan Shaqiri pulls the attacking strings.
Long Shot – 64/1 (Sky Bet)
- Lithuania v Estonia: Draw (11/5) – Two evenly matched near-neighbours battle it out here, but we fancy the spoils will be shared as neither has quite the quality to dominate possession or force enough chances to triumph. A goalless draw looks on the cards, though 1-1 wouldn’t be overly surprising.
- Wales to beat Bosnia-Herzegovina (12/5) – Bosnia gave Argentina a decent game in the World Cup, but Wales are on the rise and despite not having Aaron Ramsey available we fancy they can pull off a big win here.
- Poland to beat Germany (5/1) – Germany struggled to overcome Scotland in their last qualifier and though they are undoubtedly brilliant, the retirement of Philipp Lahm and Per Mertesacker has made them vulnerable at the back and we just have an inkling that Poland could take advantage and snatch a shock victory.
