We’ve got the second group of qualifying fixtures for Euro 2016 to look forward to early this week. Some big nations are in danger of missing out on the tournament in France next summer (the Netherlands and Russia are in particular trouble) so there will be some desperate performances. Easy Winner – 5/4 (BetVictor)
- Finland to beat the Faroe Islands (2/7) – Finland have always beaten the Faroe Islands when the two teams have met and that run doesn’t look like ending on Monday. The Finns may not be competing in France but they are looking to get stronger for future campaigns.
- Belgium to beat Cyprus (1/3) – Belgium have seen Wales win all the plaudits in Group B but they can still win the group if things go their way. Marc Wilmots’ team should record a routine victory against Cyprus who are seeing their chance slip away from them.
- Iceland to beat Kazakhstan (3/10) – Iceland are one of the stories of this qualification campaign. Their win against the Netherlands showed that they are the real deal and they should follow that win up with another victory against a poor Kazakhstan team.
Medium Risk –11/2 (Sky Bet)
- Germany to beat Scotland (1/2) – Scotland’s chances of qualifying for the European Championships took a massive blow with their 1-0 defeat away to Georgia. That will have deflated Gordon Strachan’s men just before the visit of world champions Germany who should leave Scotland with another three points.
- Portugal to beat Albania (5/6) – Portugal travel to Albania looking for revenge for their defeat at the hands of the Albanian’s in their first game of qualification. The Portuguese have recovered and are now at the top of Group I so will be doing all they can to win and to stay on top of the pile.
- Northern Ireland to beat Hungary (11/8) – Northern Ireland are so far unbeaten at Windsor Park in qualification and should extend that run against Hungary on Monday. Currently top of Group F, Northern Ireland can take a huge step towards the finals in France by completing the double over Hungary.
Long Shot – 46/1 (Bet365)
- Armenia and Denmark to draw (12/5) – Armenia are at the foot of Group I with no hope of qualifying but they beat Denmark at home in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup and Denmark have been hit and miss in this campaign.
- Norway and Croatia to draw (23/10) – The bookies are finding it tough to separate these teams and for good reason. Croatia battered Norway 5-1 in Zagreb but Norway have played well in the main. A point would suit Croatia more than Norway and that looks the likely outcome.
- Republic of Ireland and Georgia to draw (16/5) – Georgia stunned Scotland last time out while Ireland recorded the routine victory over Gibraltar that every team in Group D banks on. That lack of a tough opposition could hurt Martin O’Neil’s team as Georgia look to capitalise on a good win by claiming their first points against Ireland.
