The League Cup replaces the Champions League this midweek but there is plenty to get excited about with the eight fixtures that are spread over Tuesday and Wednesday. Any team who gets through these fourth round ties will be starting to think about a day out at Wembley so the stakes are high. You can capitalise from these matches by following the three accumulators we have picked out for you below.
Easy Winner – 10/9 (Bet365)
- Arsenal to beat Sheffield Wednesday(1/3) – Wednesday have had a good run in the cup but it will surely end when they host Arsenal who are flying in the Premier League. This should be an away win no matter which team Arsene Wenger picks on Tuesday night.
- Man City to beat Crystal Palace (1/4) – Palace may have claimed the scalp of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier on in the season but City are a different proposition entirely. With such a strong squad, Pellegrini can rotate and still put out an incredibly strong team.
- Man Utd to beat Middlesbrough (2/7) – You can expect Middlesbrough to do all they can to send their fans back to the North East happy in this glamour match for them but Man Utd should be much too strong on the night, with LVG desperate to deliver silverware at Old Trafford.
Medium Risk – 7/2 (Sky Bet)
- Chelsea to beat Stoke (8/11) – Chelsea are slowly playing their way back into form and a number of players will want the chance to show Jose Mourinho that they belong in the first team in the match against Stoke. The Potters are good but Chelsea should be better.
- Liverpool to beat Bournemouth (4/6) – Bournemouth were very unlucky to lose at Anfield when these two met in August but they have since suffered a drop in form and injuries to several key players. This could be the night that Liverpool ignite under new manager Jurgen Klopp.
- Southampton to beat Aston Villa (4/7) – Villa fans will understand if Tim Sherwood doesn’t put out his strongest team for the tough trip to St Mary’s. Villa have bigger concerns than the League Cup which they will probably be out of no matter which players are picked on Wednesday night.
Long Shot – 43/1 (BetVictor)
- Chelsea to beat Stoke and both teams to score (29/10) – Chelsea should be too strong for Stoke but they’re unlikely to win this 1-0. They’re going to have to outscore the home side to progress so this looks a solid selection.
- Over 3.5 goals in Liverpool v Bournemouth (9/5) – Bournemouth will have a real good go against Liverpool even if they are likely to lose the game. There is nothing to lose by trying to win the game, hopefully that turns it into an exciting encounter full of goals.
- Man City to win either 2-0 or 3-0 (29/10) – Manuel Pellegrini has so many options available to him it would be a real shock if they didn’t get to Wembley for the final of the League Cup. They should take another step forward with a comfortable win and a clean sheet.
