It is crunch time for many of the teams in the group stage of Euro 2016. The quirk of the new format that UEFA have introduced is that virtually none of the teams are out of the running for qualification after two games so there is a huge amount to play for in the last round of fixtures in Groups D, E and F. As ever, we’ve got you covered for your accas, with three selections of various odds below.
Easy Winner – 8/5 (BetVictor)
- Over 1.5 goals in Croatia v Spain (8/15) – Croatia will have to come our fighting after throwing away a golden opportunity at 2-0 up against the Czech Republic. If they leave any space this highly technical Spain team can take full advantage.
- Under 3.5 goals in Iceland v Austria (1/5) – Austria have to win to have any chance of qualifying but that is going to be a tough ask against this Iceland side who have proven how difficult they are to break down. Don’t expect a high scoring thriller.
- Portugal to beat Hungary (2/5) – Cristiano Ronaldo is not exactly loving life at the European Championships. He has faltered, as have his Portugal side but they at least know that they need a win against Hungary and that looks to be well within their capabilities.
Medium Risk – 5/1 (Sky Bet)
- Both teams to score in Italy v Ireland (evens) – Italy have so far demonstrated that they’ve got a mean defence but Antonio Conte is set to rotate his squad given that they’ve already qualified for the knockout stages. Ireland need to win and will be piling on the pressure so both teams to score looks highly plausible.
- Over 2.5 goals in Czech Republic v Turkey (8/11) – Czech Republic will be fired up after their incredible comeback against Croatia but they will struggle to stop Turkey – who must win – from scoring. This could be something of a goalfest.
- Cristiano Ronaldo to score against Hungary (4/6) – This is surely the game where Ronaldo breaks his duck in Euro 2016. He has had more shots blocked than any other player and even missed a penalty but it is impossible to keep a player of his quality down for long and he’ll be desperate to be the hero for his country once more.
Long Shot – 35/1 (Bet365)
- Iceland and Austria to draw (5/2) – A draw could well be enough for Iceland to qualify and extend their incredible campaign. Austria will be doing all they can to win but so did Portugal and Hungary and Iceland managed to draw against them.
- Sweden to beat Belgium (4/1) – Belgium looked much more like the team we all expected against Ireland but they may well have a tougher time of it against Sweden. Sweden will be gunning for the win and will be stubborn at the back so 4/1 looks too big a price to ignore.
- Spain to beat Croatia (21/20) – Spain have qualified but they are still a team searching for the perfect formula. Vicente del Bosque is sure to shuffle the pack but those who get a chance will be desperate to impress.
