The upcoming European Championships mean that this season’s Premier League is a bit truncated. Fixture congestion has been a major talking point ever since Christmas and it is not about to be eased. We’ve got yet another midweek round of fixtures in the Premier League on Tuesday and Wednesday and while the poor footballers may be tired, it presents us with another chance to pick out some winning accumulators below.
Easy Winner – evens (BetVictor)
- Over 1.5 goals in Norwich v Chelsea (2/7) – In form Chelsea could run riot against Norwich, who need a huge change of fortunes to avoid slipping back into the Championship.
- Under 3.5 goals in Sunderland v Crystal Palace (2/9) – Sam Allardyce is very much a manager who sets out first and foremost not to lose and against goal shy Crystal Palace his Sunderland side could be involved in a low scoring slog.
- Over 1.5 goals in West Ham v Tottenham (3/10) – Spurs have got some huge London derbies to come this season and they will know that a win at Upton Park will not be easy. There are goals in both of these sides and we could get five goals here, just like in the first match between these two.
Medium Risk – 7/1 (Sky Bet)
- Leicester to beat West Brom (4/7) – People are talking more about Arsenal and Tottenham and less about Leicester since the Foxes lost to Arsenal but they can show that they are still the team to catch with an important win over West Brom at home.
- Both teams to score in Arsenal v Swansea (11/10) – Swansea may find themselves at the wrong end of the table but they’ve got goals in their locker and have improved since Francesco Guidolin became the head coach. Arsenal’s season is on a knife edge and the Swans could make life uncomfortable at the Emirates.
- Stoke to beat Newcastle (10/11) – Stoke have been bumping around 10th position in the Premier League with occasional threats to finish a fair deal higher but they’ve just not been able to put a consistent run together. Newcastle would love that sort of stability but the Toon Army are very worried about relegation and they could well have to deal with another defeat when they visit the Britannia on Wednesday.
Long Shot – 93/2 (Bet365)
- Southampton to beat Bournemouth and both teams to score (4/1) – The Cherries have the attacking options to score against Southampton’s mean defence but their own worries at the back could see the Saints take the three points home.
- Leicester to beat West Brom to nil (11/8) – Leicester have been rightly praised for their direct style of play which has caught the rest of the Premier League cold but their defence has been just as impressive and they should keep the Baggies at bay in a routine win.
- Manchester United to beat Watford and both teams to score (3/1) – United aren’t at the levels that their fans demand but they are at least scoring more goals. We reckon they will have to score more than once against Watford to win but that is certainly not beyond them.
