There were some incredible scenes of heartbreak contrasted with joy during the recent international break. There were also enough scenes of boredom during many of the friendlies that many football fans will be delighted about the impending return of the Premier League. Hopefully the return of the top flight this weekend will bring with it entertainment all over the country and maybe some tasty profit in your pockets thanks to the three trebles we’ve put together for you below.
Short Price – 7/5 (Ladbrokes)
- Man City to beat Leicester (1/3) – Can anybody catch Man City at the top of the Premier League? It’s beginning to look highly unlikely and Pep Guardiola’s men should add another three points to their tally against Leicester.
- Liverpool to beat Southampton (2/5) – Liverpool remain unbeaten at home this season and have conceded just once at Anfield. Their strong home form should see them through against an uninspiring Southampton side.
- Over 1.5 goals in Watford v West Ham (2/7) – David Moyes’ first game in charge of West Ham is a tricky looking fixture with Watford. Both sides are desperate to arrest runs of poor form so expect plenty of chances at Vicarage Road.
Medium Risk – 9/1 (Betfair)
- Chelsea to beat West Brom to nil (6/4) – West Brom fans are running out of patience with Tony Pulis. The Baggies may be a stable Premier League side but the Hawthorns faithful are crying out for some entertainment. They’re unlikely to get it against Chelsea as Pulis will surely set his team up to keep the score down, a plan which could backfire against Antonio Conte’s rejuvenated side.
- Under 2.5 goals in Bournemouth v Huddersfield (8/11) – Bournemouth had to work very hard before securing a late winner against Newcastle. It could be more of the same on Saturday when David Wagner’s well organised Huddersfield head to the Vitality Stadium.
- Under 2.5 goals in Liverpool v Southampton (13/10) – Three of Liverpool’s five Premier League games at Anfield this season have seen two or less goals scored. It could well go up to four in six after Southampton (who have just nine goals to their name) visit Merseyside on Saturday.
Long Shot – 97/1 (Bet365)
- 1-1 correct score in Arsenal v Tottenham (13/2) – Many of the big Premier League fixtures have been a little disappointing this season. There will be no end of effort when Arsenal face Tottenham in Saturday’s early game but don’t be surprised if it ends in a low scoring draw.
- Over 2.5 second half goals in Watford v West Ham (10/3) – David Moyes’ first job at West Ham is to improve the squad’s fitness. Arresting the Irons’ habit of capitulating in the latter stages is a tough ask during the season. As Watford have scored and conceded more goals in the second half than the first, the closing stages of Sunday’s only game could be highly entertaining.
- Man United to beat Newcastle and under 2.5 goals (2/1) – Man United are the worthy favourites at home to Newcastle but it’s never easy to beat a Rafa Benitez team. The Magpies will put up a fight at Old Trafford even if Man United should squeeze through and pick up the win.
