All the waiting and the planning is over and now it’s time for the action at Euro 2016 to get underway. With 24 teams we are being treated to a bumper edition of the European Championships and there is also a specially extended Copa America underway at the moment. All those fixtures provide us with some brilliant betting opportunities and we’ve put together a trio of trebles for you so fill your boots.
Easy Winner – 9/10 (BetVictor)
- Brazil to beat Haiti (1/6) – Brazil failed to rise to the occasion in their first match as the drew 0-0 with Ecuador. That means they absolutely must beat Haiti early on Thursday morning.
- France to beat Romania (2/7) – There is quite a lot of pressure on this France team but they’ve got the quality to go all the way in their home tournament and should get the festivities off with a routine win over an ordinary Romania team.
- Mexico to beat Jamaica (2/7) – Whether or not Wes Morgan has significantly recovered from all the partying that followed Leicester’s Premier League win, his Jamaica side are going to have to turn in one of their best ever performances to avoid anything other than a drubbing at the hands of Mexico.
Medium Risk – 5/1 (Sky Bet)
- Over 1.5 goals in England v Russia (4/9) It would not be unfair to say that there are better defensive sides at Euro 2016 than either England or Russia. The strengths of both teams lie at the other end of the pitch and there should be plenty of goals when they meet on Saturday night.
- Poland to beat Northern Ireland (4/6) – Michael O’Neill says that his team are not at Euro 2016 just to make up the numbers but they will surely struggle to get anything out of their opening game against Poland.
- Wales to beat Slovakia (13/8) – Wales’ 3-0 defeat at the hands of Sweden will have dented the players’ collective pride but it could be just the wakeup call that they need. Chris Coleman will not need to remind them that their levels have to increase and that could spur them onto a huge win in the first game of Group B.
Long Shot – 14/1 (Bet365)
- Olivier Giroud to score against Romania (6/5) – Premier League fans may be scratching their heads about all the noise that’s surround Olivier Giroud the Euros but he is a real favourite of Didier Deschamps and will relish the chance to become a national hero. Give him a chance and he’ll score against the Romanians.
- Wayne Rooney to score against Russia (7/4) – Rooney is the England captain and that means everybody else has to fit around him in the starting XI. This could well be his last major international tournament for England and he still has the quality to leave his mark.
- Gareth Bale to score against Slovakia (7/5) – Gareth Bale may not get the opportunity to star at a tournament of this calibre again. He’s proven that he’s world class at Real Madrid and should rise to the challenge fast at Euro 2016.
