The World Cup is just over a week away and the excitement is palpable. Managers have just one more game in which to hone tactics and their players’ whilst the players themselves must balance the need to cement their places with the necessity of avoiding an injury. Easy Winner – 2/1 (Coral)
- Greece to beat Bolivia (5/6) – Greece are preparing for the World Cup and will send a strong side out against Bolivia. The Bolivians can be tough to play at the altitude of La Paz but elsewhere they struggle and Greece look good for victory here.
- England to beat Honduras (4/9) – England will be at full strength here and given Israel recently beat Honduras 4-2 this should be a doddle for the Three Lions who will field a much stronger XI than they did against Ecuador.
- Colombia to beat Jordan (1/7) – Colombia are decent outsiders for the World Cup, even without Radamel Falcao, and will have far too much for Jordan, who Uruguay beat 5-0 when it mattered in the World Cup play-offs.
Medium Risk – 9/1 (BetVictor)
- Greece to beat Bolivia (5/6) – As above, we really feel the Greeks are a very strong bet and odds of 5/6 are a very nice way to get the ball rolling here.
- Croatia to beat Australia (20/23) – Croatia have far too much talent to come unstuck against Australia and whilst the Aussies are committed and organised, Mario Mandzukic and co will prove too good.
- Ghana to beat South Korea (15/8) – Ghana almost made the semi final of the last World Cup and have some fine players but they are the underdogs here. However, we feel their power and physical presence will be too much for South Korea and this is a very nice way to boost our returns.
Long Shot – 152/1 (BetVictor)
- Croatia/Croatia (11/5) – As said above, we feel that Croatia will be too good for the Aussies and backing them to be ahead at full time having led at the break appeals here at nice odds. Croatia can be somewhat unpredictable but we fancy them to be up for this one against an Australia side that features some players of Croatian descent and so we think they’ll start fast.
- Adam Lallana to score at anytime against Honduras (3/1) – Lallana has impressed us in the last 12 months and he looked very bright against Peru. With Roy Hodgson likely to field his best XI we fancy Lallana will play and against a poor Honduras side and we expect him to have plenty of opportunities to try his luck from distance.
- Ghana to win 2-1 (12/1) – As said, we feel this will be a close game but that Ghana will prevail and 2-1 appears to offer excellent value in a friendly where neither side will be overly concerned about the result.
