Tragedy of tragedies, this is the final weekend of Premier League action for almost three months and there’s not even a World Cup or European Championship to get us through the summer months. So savour this weekend’s action when every team will be kicking off at 3pm on Sunday afternoon. We’ve run the rule over the fixtures and have picked our three best accas to end the season in profit.
Easy Winner – 13/10 (Sky Bet)
- Arsenal to beat West Brom (1/3) – West Brom were brilliant when beating Chelsea in their last home game but that might be a great way to end their season. Arsenal have an almost faultless record against the bottom half of the table at the Emirates and should end a promising season on a high.
- Chelsea to beat Sunderland (4/9) – Chelsea’s performance levels may have dropped since winning the title but they will be presented with the Premier League trophy after this game and would dearly love a win to cap their season off. Sunderland’s recent good form means they can stay in the league even with a loss at Stamford Bridge.
- Everton v Tottenham over 1.5 goals (1/5) – Tottenham are an entertaining team on their travels but have been poor in the final third of the season. In contrast Everton have improved as the season’s gone on and will be out to outscore a team they hope to be competing with next season.
Medium Risk – 15/2 (BetVictor)
- Stoke to beat Liverpool (13/5) – Stoke raise their game when the best teams in the league turn up to the Britannia. They’ve beaten four of the teams above them at home and can make that five with the visit of Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers does not preside over a happy camp at the moment. It would not be a surprise if they slipped to another defeat.
- Manchester City to beat Southampton (11/20) – Unlike Liverpool, Manchester City are enjoying the end of their season. If they beat Southampton on Sunday it will be six wins on the trot. Southampton have had another very impressive campaign which would not be ruined by defeat at a ground where only two visiting teams have won.
- Hull v Manchester United both teams to score (7/10) – Hull have to score to have any chance of staying up as only a win will be enough to move them above Newcastle. There should be plenty of twists and turns over the afternoon including at the KC Stadium where both teams should find the net to complete our second acca.
Long Shot – 100/1 (Bet365)
- West Ham to beat Newcastle (15/4) – This is likely to be Sam Allardyce’s last game in charge of West Ham. He has a good record against Newcastle ever since the club sacked him halfway through his only season in charge. The pressure to win is so big it could stifle the Magpies proving he who laughs last laughs with a hearty, Black Country accent!
- Crystal Palace v Swansea over 4.5 goals (5/1) – This is exactly the sort of game that could turn out to be a cracker on the last day of the season. Two teams with plenty of attacking talent, nothing to worry about and the cracking atmosphere that Selhurst Park generates. Expect this one to catch fire early and for the goals to rain in.
- Burnley to beat Aston Villa (13/5) – We’ve seen relegated teams turn in some of their best performances when it’s all too late. QPR beat Newcastle last week in an example of how condemned teams can play after the pressure is removed from their shoulders. It doesn’t matter what happens now for Villa, who are safe, but Danny Ings and co. will be playing for pride and to give their fans some cheer to head off into the summer holidays with.
