The Premier League keeps on rolling and whilst many of the sides will have been in European action in midweek, others, including Man United, will have benefitted from a little extra rest. Can we use this to our advantage this weekend?
Perhaps, and the exertions of continental action are just one of the factors we’ve looked at when scouring the Premier League fixtures this week and as usual we’ve got three accumulators at varying odds levels for you to get stuck into.
Easy Winner – 12/5 (Betfred)
- Man United to beat Leicester (8/13) – Intelligent Man United fans won’t be getting too carried away with their 4-0 win over QPR but it certainly shows they are moving in the right direction and it will have been a massive boost to the players’ and fans’ confidence. Leicester got a fine win at Stoke last weekend but even so, United’s Galacticos will be simply too good.
- Tottenham to beat West Brom (1/2) – Many people tipped West Brom to struggle this term and they have started poorly. Spurs, on the other hand, have started solidly and despite a trip to Belgrade before this they can get the win on home soil against the Baggies.
- Everton to beat Crystal Palace (2/5) – Everton are another side in Europa League action on Thursday but they too will have enough to win at home against a side that look likely to be involved in a relegation battle. Palace stunned the Toffees at Goodison last season and the Blues will get revenge here.
Medium Risk – 6/1 (BetVictor)
- QPR v Stoke under 2.5 goals (3/5) – QPR are struggling and looked poor at the back against Man United but they will find things far easier at home to Stoke. They lack the firepower to trouble sides at this level though and we see this one ending 1-0 either way, making under 2.5 goals a solid option.
- Aston Villa v Arsenal under 2.5 goals (19/20) – Villa have started the season brilliantly and much of their success has been down to their defending. Arsenal have a lot of creativity but we think this one will be a low scoring affair, not least because three of the Villains’ games have produced one goal or fewer.
- Man City to beat Chelsea (7/5) – This one is the biggest game of the season so far between the two favourites for the title and we think the home side will raise their game just enough to edge it.
Long Shot – 104/1 (BetVictor)
- Hull to beat Newcastle (16/5) – Newcastle are really struggling whilst the Tigers have made a solid start to the campaign. The atmosphere at St James’ will do the home side no favours and we think Hull can cause a major upset and pile yet more pressure on the Newcastle manager and owner.
- Swansea to beat Southampton and both teams to score (4/1) – The Swans are flying high, despite defeat by Chelsea last weekend. Garry Monk has done a marvellous job and whilst the Saints are going very well too we think the home side can edge a thrilling game here. The home win combined with BTTS looks great value at 4/1.
- Aston Villa to beat Arsenal (4/1) – Villa have started the season strongly and, along with Swansea, Southampton and leaders Chelsea, complete the top four. Villa defend so well as a unit and with Arsenal facing a tough midweek Champions League game in Germany we think the Villains can upset them here, as they did at the Emirates on the opening day of last season.
